We want to acknowledge and congratulate Clive Featherby on his induction into the Australian Monster Truck Hall of Fame, forming part of our inaugural class. Having worked initially in speedway promotion during the mid-1980s, his ability to draw crowds to his events is yet to wane, making him one of the longest-serving motorsports promoters in the country.

At the turn of the 21st century, Clive Featherby debuted the first 3D bodied monster truck in Australia, Broncos Magic. This would form the basis for what is largely considered to be the most widely recognised local identity, Outback Thunda. Affectionately known as ‘Thunda’, Clive debuted the bold new name in 2003 and has been running it consistently ever since, making it the longest consecutively run Australian identity in monster truck history. He has competed across every state and territory in the country numerous times and within several international competitions in the United States, Canada, New Zealand, the United Arab Emirates, among other locations.

Alongside Outback Thunda, Clive Featherby is also responsible for various other notable identities within Australia, many of which were the result of longstanding partnerships with major companies and teams. Namely Scooby-Doo, Batman, Taz, Raptors Rampage, Freak Show and the Australian iterations of iconic international names such as Bigfoot, Monster Patrol, Samson, Avenger and Bearfoot. Clive is also recognised for having established the Australasian Monster Truck Association (AMTA), formerly the Australian Monster Truck Association and the Australian Monster Truck Racing Association. Founded as the foremost safety authority for monster truck shows in Australia, safeguarding the protection of attendees, drivers and all involved.

Clive’s continued effort to reinvent his shows, advance industry standards, and strengthen the reputation of monster trucks in Australia, while continuing to operate the most recognisable monster truck identity in the country, makes him an upstanding and foundational member of the industry and therefore one of our proud inductees into the Australian Monster Truck Hall of Fame.
