We want to announce that the 2025 Cornerstone Award has been presented to Christopher George by the Australian Monster Truck Hall of Fame, in honour of his unwavering commitment and dedication to the local industry.
Initially, Chris’s devotion materialised through the formation of the ‘Australian Monster Truck Forum’ and later within his own site, ‘Down Under Monsters’. Both of which provided the fast-growing community of underserved Australian monster truck enthusiasts with a space to interact with like-minded individuals and learn about developments regarding truck debuts and event details. It was the development of these sites that provided him with the industry connections that enabled him to pursue a career in the monster truck industry.
Throughout his extensive time working alongside monster trucks in Australia, he undertook a myriad of roles and responsibilities, most notably as the foremost safety official for the ‘Australian Monster Truck Racing Association’ (AMTRA). He was later appointed to the position of vice president at AMTRA and continually worked to enact the standardisation of safety protocols across various Australian monster truck events. Safeguarding the protection of attendees, drivers and all additional parties involved.
Aside from his involvement with AMTRA, Chris worked tirelessly behind the scenes to organise events and construct the promotional materials for numerous shows across the country, allowing the industry to continually evolve and expand its reach. Chris also worked as a driver, announcer, competition judge, promoter, ride truck operator and web designer, among other roles.
His dedication and varied contributions to the monster truck industry in Australia, in spite of personal adversity, have solidified his position as a highly valued and respected member of the community. His presence is dearly missed, and we hope you will all join us in acknowledging his long-lasting impact on the monster truck industry and as the recipient of the 2025 Cornerstone Award. We extend our congratulations to the family of Chris George and those who were fortunate enough to work with him.
