Buddy made its debut at Monster Events' international tour of China in 2017. The truck formerly ran as Scooby Doo for ten years and was a major milestone in the industry. Following the culmination of Warner Bros' partnership with the team, the truck would be rebranded to Buddy, and Monster Events was permitted to retain the rights to continue using the original body design.
Hayden McLeary became the first Australian to backflip a Monster Truck in 2018, completing the manoeuvre behind the wheel of Buddy at the Perth Motorplex. The chassis later ran as part of Monster Jams 2018 and 2019 Australian tours, competing as both Monster Mutt and Alien Invasion, respectively.
